The Cotswold School reported that they have had to clean up their playing fields prior to students returning the school this week. The fields had lots of dog foul on them. It is an offence to not pick up after your dog with up to a £1,000 fine if caught. The only exemption is if the mess is left behind by a registered blind persons dog.
This can be a problem all over the rural Cotswolds area especially on farm land where cattle graze. Sheep will eat it and this causes them , if pregnant, to have still born lambs. Leaving bags on fences and gate posts is also not acceptable and again causes harm to cattle if eaten. Please carry it to the nearest dog bin and if none available a public rubbish bin is acceptable. ( or take it home )
We understand most dog owners are responsible owners, this alert is aimed to try and educate those who still insist on not picking up after their dog.
