We have been informed about planned roadworks on a number of roads in Upper Rissington in the coming months: Sopwith Road, Farman Crescent, Hawker Square, Bleriot Road, Snipe Road, and Grebe Square. A plan of the scheme is shown below.
These roads will be closed at some point between 1st April 2019 and the 30th June 2019, to allow contractors, working on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, to carry out carriageway surfacing works. Notification of actual dates will be given on site at least a week before – and we will pass along details when available.
On Thursday 28 March at 6:30pm, the Upper Rissington Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group will be hosting a community event in the Village Hall to gain insights into what the neighbourhood plan should cover.
The event will be facilitated by planning consultant Andrea Pellegram MRTPI who will be supporting the Steering Group in the preparation of the plan – to help turn the vision into policy.
Neighbourhood planning gives communities the power to develop a shared vision for their area and for these to be expressed in planning policies that will be used to assess local planning applications.
The event will be a short discussion of what neighbourhood planning can achieve and then interactive exercises to look at the strengths and weaknesses of Upper Rissington, a discussion about our vision for the future and then a short discussion about what policies the plan might contain. There will be a focus on green spaces.
It will be an interesting 2 hours and we hope that you can join us to share your views with the steering group.
The Notices of Election for the District and Town/Parish elections on 2nd May 2019 have been published.
There are 11 seats up for election on Upper Rissington Parish Council. If you would like to stand for election as a councillor, nominations can be received between 9am and 5pm on any working day from 19 March through to the deadline of 4pm on 3 April.
Candidates are reminded that all nomination papers must be hand delivered to Cotwold District Council’s Cirencester office – delivery can be made by someone on behalf of the candidate if necessary.
The elections team will be available to check nomination papers as and when candidates arrive, and encourage candidates to wait while they do this – they will be as quick as possible!
If you have any queries relating to the nomination or election process, please contact the elections team on 01285 623002 or email@example.com.
Carriageway resurfacing work is due to take place from 18th March – 22nd March. A complete road closure will be in place 0700 – 1900 whilst the work is being carried out.
As you can see, the closure covers much of the road around the village – residents will only be able to enter and leave from the southern-most point on Mitchell Way or from Bristol Road in the north. There will be no access to the Bourton Road going West.
The letter below was sent to all households in the village. Also shown is the official diversion via Bourton and Great Rissington.
